ABOUT THE MARKET

Pure Pizza brings Saturday Market to Plaza Midwood “Sustainable Saturdays Neighborhood Market” to educate and support local farmers, artists and vendors

Sustainable Saturdays is a weekly neighborhood market at the barn behind our Central Avenue location on 1911 Central Ave. The markets will take place on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. with the purpose of promoting sustainability and supporting local farmers, artists, vendors and businesses.

Sustainable Saturdays are Pure Pizza’s way of getting involved with the Charlotte community. Local farms, vendors (Central Food Hub, Enderly Coffee, Viva Raw, The Gâteau Baking Company and more…), and artists will be able to contribute to a unique environment that is focused on building relationships. The market will also be education oriented, focused on urban farming, healthy living and sustainability.

“It’s about education, getting food at a reasonable price and helping local farmers be able to grow more food.” says Pat Farrell, local Plaza Midwood farmer and former owner of the Atherton Food Hub. “Food is like a personal relationship, and eating fast food is like sleeping around -if you do it too much you’re going to get a disease.” Farrell will be a crucial part of the Sustainable Saturday markets by offering multi-farm CSA options and fresh produce from local farmers.

“Here, farm to table means local, not from Argentina.” said Juli Ghazi, owner of Pure Pizza. They take sustainable agriculture seriously, by seeing food through all of its life stages – from the ground, to the table, to compost. Pure Pizza is not “Farm-to-Fable”, it truly is Farm-to-Table.
